Staff and children at LEYF’s nurseries certainly got into the Olympic spirit this summer.
In case you’ve been living under a rock this summer saw the 2012 Games take place in London – but for the staff and children at the London Early Years Foundation, the main event took place just beforehand. Marking the start of the Games was the LEYF’s very own torch relay, stretching from Queen’s Park in north-west London to Marks Gate in Barking & Dagenham, via around 20 stops in between. Aside from creating the torch, children from the charity’s nurseries produced pieces of artwork to represent their neighbourhoods, which together formed a six-foot-square map of the capital that was proudly displayed at the finish line, a day before the official opening ceremony.
