Everyone’s favourite caterpillar is back with Action for Children’s annual Giant Wiggle – a free educational fundraising event supporting the charity’s work with vulnerable children.
It’s now in its fifth year, and to date over 170,000 children have transformed themselves into little caterpillars, learning new skills through creative storytelling, arts and crafts, baking and giant fundraising caterpillar conga lines along the way!
Early years settings and children’s groups across the nation are encouraged to hold a Giant Wiggle walk with as many enthusiastic children as possible between 7 and 13 May!
The Giant Wiggle will unleash your children’s imagination! The event involves creativity, movement and togetherness – all things children love.
When you register, you’ll receive a free fun pack that provides everything you need for your educational sessions – from downloadable recipe cards to arts and crafts activities, and early years worksheets.
“Children learn best when they are active, exploring and able to develop their own ideas,” explains Theresa Johnson, professional development manager at PACEY.
“We’ve worked with Puffin to create an Early Years Resource Pack based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It explores the different areas of learning and development by providing opportunities for children to be physically active, to listen and follow instructions, to share ideas with each other, play cooperatively and use their imagination.”
All this wiggling will help introduce your children to the idea of community and giving to others less fortunate, whilst doing something amazing for a good cause.
Every event that raises over £200 will automatically be entered into a competition to win lots of fun Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed prizes and feature on the Action for Children online Giant Wiggle ‘Wall of Fame’.
So sign up to host a Giant Wiggle and encourage your children to get messy and active, have fun and raise money at the same time!
Across the UK there are 1.5 million children who need Action for Children to step in and help them to get their childhoods back. The charity is here for any child in need, whether they are hungry, disabled, in care or anything in between.
It operates across the country to reach 370,000 children, young people and families each year, working at the heart of communities to provide support where it is needed most, for as long as it is needed.
Action for Children needs your help to reach more vulnerable children and families. Sign up today and get your Giant Wiggle on to show your support!
