Eco-nurseries are quick, cost effective and provide an enhanced learning environment.
The benefits of reconnecting children and nature have been proven again and again, yet children around Britain are missing out on these due to a lack of space and resources. At The Learning Escape we create outdoor classrooms where children can enjoy free-flow between the inside and outdoor spaces, without the noise, cost and disruption of an extension to the main school building. Our eco-friendly rooms combine innovative design with natural materials for a learning environment which minimises costs to both the school and the environment.
Like many of our clients, St Fagan’s CW Primary School requested a space which could accommodate their nursery class while leaving room for the main school to expand and grow. Headteacher Alison Price explains how their Learning Escape has given their nursery class the freedom to explore and engage with the nature around them.
“We decided to build our nursery class a new classroom so we could use the existing nursery space for our individual and group needs. That way our younger pupils could have a new light and airy space to inspire their creativity.
We have a very small school site but it is very green. We wanted something that would fit with the school and our natural surroundings. The Learning Escape classroom fit the bill. The quote was the best value for money, particularly as it was a ‘turn key’ project – everything was included, this was particularly useful for the planning and project management.
Now the nursery children have better access to their outdoor classroom area we have seen a big improvement in their behaviour. They are much calmer, which we think may be due to the natural light they have in the new room. We use the veranda for sand and water play, making a lot less mess, and the whole school has access to the cooking facilities inside. The new classroom has created a natural stage for outdoor school events and improved the aesthetics of the area.
From the start of the build the team was quick to respond to all of our calls and emails and were very responsive to our needs. The builders and the team were very friendly, hardworking and keen to make things exactly right.”
We understand that embarking on a new building project can be costly, time-consuming and disruptive, so we aim to minimise the disturbance to your school environment at every stage. Everything from the planning application to the light installation is handled by a member of our in-house team, allowing you to continue your usual routine without the hassle of chasing after separate crews of builders or designers.
A Learning Escape can be a very cost effective alternative to temporary buildings costing as little as £1200 per sq meter for our larger buildings. They are also a speedy solution in some cases we have been onsite from start to finish for only 4 weeks. Financing options are also available.

“The eco-friendly building has encouraged even our youngest children to be more aware of their environment and the importance of looking after it.” Molly Ball, Pre-School Chairman, Dickleburgh VC Primary
